A Special Message for ILCO Certified Experts!
Dear ILCO Certified Experts,
On behalf of the staff and board of directors of ILCO, we hope this message finds you well and productive during these continued unprecedented times.
Last March 2020, we relaxed the requirement of a minimum of 5 (five) CLE hours for ILCO’s Certified Experts and renewed these designations without proof of attendance for CLE hours (for the period from July 2019 to June 2020). This was done on the basis that we were uncertain about what, if any, CLE programming, may have been available, but also with the understanding that some ILCO members accumulate their CLE hours by attending ILCO’s annual conference which sadly, was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Since that time, many of us have been fortunate to continue working from home by the use of technology such as Zoom, Teams and Webex. We witnessed a revolution of sorts as many organizations and associations converted their programs and events to virtual sessions. At ILCO, we were both grateful and proud to make a smooth transition into the world of Zoom to continue offering CLE and members’ only programs and events. For our Certified Experts and members, we developed an ethics course led by Virginia Harwood, which was offered on 3 separate dates due to popular demand.
We are confident that our ILCO Certified Experts are capable of meeting the minimum requirement of 5 CLE hours in order to maintain their designation for the upcoming 2021-2022 membership year.
We are pleased to offer our ILCO Certified Experts the opportunity to widen the reporting period for their required CLE hours from July 2019 to June 2021 for the 2021-2022 membership year.
We encourage and welcome you to upload your proof of attendance or any supporting documentation for non-ILCO CLE programs to your ILCO portal in advance of the membership drive starting in July 2021.
A few tips:
- If you uploaded hours in 2019 and unable to see them under your Education Activities history, please report again and we will assign them to July 2020 - June 2021 Collection Period. Remember, you only need 5 CLEs and once every 5 years 1 Ethics course.
- If you attended an ILCO CLE there is no need to add that as CLE credit, it is automatically assigned when we marked your attendance.
We strongly recommend ILCO Certified Experts obtain CLE hours in their practice area wherever possible, but some consideration may be allowed for other general knowledge programs or sessions.
If you find yourself in need of sessions or programs to achieve your required CLE hours, or ethics course (required every 5 years), please visit the ILCO Store where you will find available presentation materials for purchase. Only 2020 and 2021 CLEs in Store that come with recordings could be reported as an Education Activity for Certified Expert designation renewal 2021-2022.
Stay tuned for an upcoming lunch session to demonstrate the use of the ILCO member portal, including uploading documents and retrieving certificates for eligible programs.
Please forward any questions or concerns to our Membership Coordinator, Anna Zdravkovic, at members@ilco.on.ca
